Angler's Loop (ABoK 1017)
Clifford Ashley said "The Angler's Loop has the best lead of any loop and is one of the best of single loops for the ends of small lines..." (Ashley's Book of Knots, p. 187). In fact, the Angler's Loop is such a good knot that it ia also known as the "Perfection Loop". It is stronger and more secure than than the Bowline, and can be tied on the bight. The Angler's Loop is one of the few loop knots that will hold in monofilament fishing line, and the only one that is secure in Dyneema.
The only downside to the Angler's Loop is that it does tend to jam, so use a different knot when ease of untying is important.
